Mycology -- slow start

So I hike a lot. A while back I found myself wondering if all those streams I was passing had any fish in them. A few years later I'm getting fairly good with my fly rods.

So I'm out hiking a little while ago, and I spot some mushrooms. I wonder, as I always have, if they were edible. So I pick them up, take then home (stopping at the B&N to buy a mushroom reference) and guess what? I'm still clueless.

I've become far more familiar with the terms and even pulled out a microscope to take a closer look at the spores I managed to coax from the mushrooms I captured. I might, maybe, know what I found -- but it's not as easy as I was hoping it would be.

I'll upload some photos and the characteristics I think apply. Perhaps a real mycologist somewhere can help me out.
